DUI Driver Hits Pedestrian, Causes Gas Leak in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, CA (August 4, 2024) — Santa Barbara police responded to a DUI incident early Saturday morning, where a driver struck a pedestrian at 4 a.m. The driver then hit a gas meter across the road, crashed into a building, and caused a gas leak, leading to an emergency shutdown.
Police transported the injured pedestrian to Cottage Hospital, where they were treated for moderate injuries and are expected to make a full recovery. Authorities arrested the driver for felony DUI and hit and run.
Roadways affected by this Santa Barbara accident were reopened Saturday. The investigation is ongoing.
