E-Bike Accident Leaves Chula Vista Woman Farrah Camu Fighting for Life

CHULA VISTA, CA (September 13, 2024) — A Chula Vista woman remains in critical condition after developing a blood clot nearly two weeks following an e-bike accident at Mammoth Lakes. On August 20, Farrah Camu and her boyfriend Johnny rented e-bikes during a camping trip. Shortly after, Farrah took a spill that led to a visit to a local emergency room, where she received 12 stitches, pain medication, antibiotics, and instructions to keep her knee straight to protect the stitches.

Twelve days later, Farrah’s condition worsened dramatically. She began feeling extremely cold and started hyperventilating. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered a blood clot had traveled from her knee to her heart, causing cardiac arrest. Farrah was without oxygen for seven minutes, resulting in brain damage of unknown extent. She remains heavily sedated.

Medical professionals informed the family that the lack of movement and weight-bearing on her leg likely contributed to the formation of the blood clot. Despite the grim circumstances, loved ones are hopeful. Johnny, who is also a musician, sang to Farrah in the ICU, prompting her to sob—an emotional response doctors view as a positive sign.
