Electric Bike Rider Fatally Struck by Truck in Orangevale

ORANGEVALE, CA (September 20, 2024) — An electric bicyclist lost his life in a collision with a pickup truck at an Orangevale intersection on Thursday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol reported. The crash occurred around 4:28 p.m. at the intersection of Beech and Elm Avenues, just west of Hazel Avenue.
The cyclist was heading south on Beech Avenue when he entered the intersection at the same time as an eastbound Chevy pickup on Elm Avenue. They collided within the intersection. Beech Avenue has bike lanes on both sides, while Elm Avenue does not, but authorities did not specify the exact circumstances leading to the crash.
