Ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer Sued for Wrongful Death

ALHAMBRA, CA (July 15, 2024) — Israel Sanchez’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against guitarist Josh Klinghoffer after Sanchez was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing a street in Alhambra. Sanchez, 47, was on his way to a grocery store in March when he was hit by a Black GMC Yukon driven by Klinghoffer, who allegedly was looking at his cell phone moments before the collision.
Klinghoffer, known for his time with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and currently touring with Pearl Jam, stopped at the scene and called 911. Despite cooperating with authorities, he was not arrested or charged.
The complaint states Klinghoffer left for his tour shortly after the incident and has not contacted the Sanchez family. Sanchez’s daughter, Ashley, expressed her grief, remembering her father as a beloved chef and grandparent. Her attorney, Nick Rowley, criticized Klinghoffer’s actions, calling for a homicide charge.
