Fatal Collision Claims Woman’s Life in South Bakersfield [Bakersfield, CA]

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 15, 2024) — Tragedy struck in south Bakersfield on Thursday night as a collision claimed the life of a woman near the intersection of Cottonwood Road and East Pacheco Road, according to authorities.

The Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) reported that the incident occurred just before 8 p.m., leaving the woman with severe injuries upon their arrival at the scene.

Despite efforts to save her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, BPD confirmed.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a man driving a white pick-up truck was traveling northbound on Cottonwood Road when the collision with the woman, who was traveling eastbound, took place in the 4700 block.

The man remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation.

As the community grapples with this devastating loss, both northbound and southbound lanes of Cottonwood Road were temporarily closed due to the crash, underscoring the impact of this tragic event on the local area.
