BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 14, 2024) — Bakersfield police are investigating a severe car crash that occurred on October 13th at the intersection of Niles and Kern Street, resulting in two fatalities and critical injuries to a 2-year-old child. According to witnesses, the loud impact of the collision could be heard from blocks away.
The fatal crash in Bakersfield involved a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling north on Kern Street, colliding with a westbound police patrol car. The car contained three passengers: the driver, who died at the scene, and a female passenger, who later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The 2-year-old, also in the car, is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
