Fatal Crash on Sierra Highway as Tesla Tumbles Down Embankment
POLLOCK PINES, CA (May 9, 2024) — A tragic accident claimed the life of a Tesla driver on Tuesday when his vehicle plunged off Highway 50 in the Sierra mountains near Pollock Pines, California.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred westbound, just past a local Chevron station close to the Fresh Pond community. The alarm was raised just before 11:30 a.m.
Upon receiving an accident alert from the vehicle, the driver’s wife contacted authorities who then used Tesla-provided coordinates to locate the wreck. El Dorado County Fire Protection District personnel found the man ejected from his Tesla, suffering fatal blunt force injuries.
Authorities closed one lane of the highway to recover the vehicle, which had descended between 300 and 400 feet down the embankment. The ongoing investigation into the Tesla fatal accident seeks to determine the crash’s cause, including whether another vehicle was involved.
