Fatal Hit-and-Run in South L.A. Leaves One Dead, Two Hospitalized
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 12, 2024) — A suspected hit-and-run in South Los Angeles resulted in one fatality and two injuries, including a young boy, on Thursday night. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the 5200 block of South Figueroa Street in the Vermont Square neighborhood.
Los Angeles Fire Department responders found three people injured: one deceased, a man in his 20s in serious-to-critical condition, and a 5-year-old boy in moderate condition. Witnesses reported seeing someone flee the scene, prompting a police investigation into the crash as a hit-and-run.
Emergency crews used hydraulic tools to extricate victims from a severely damaged white SUV and a black sedan. The identity of the deceased has not been released as investigations into the South LA hit-and-run continue.
