Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Valencia Park After Traffic Stop

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 11, 2024) — A motorcyclist was killed, and his passenger lost her leg in a crash early Saturday morning in the Valencia Park neighborhood after fleeing a traffic stop, according to San Diego Police.
The incident began around 12:45 a.m. when officers pulled over a 2019 Harley Davidson on Imperial Avenue for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers discovered the 25-year-old rider had a felony arrest warrant. When informed of his arrest, the rider attempted to flee westbound on Imperial Avenue. Before a pursuit could begin, the motorcycle collided with two parked vehicles at high speed.
Both the rider and his 23-year-old passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the woman was transported to a hospital in serious condition after losing her left leg. Her injuries are considered life-threatening.
