Four Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Balboa Park

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 14, 2024) — Three adults, a child, and a dog were injured in a multi-vehicle collision near Balboa Park Sunday morning, according to San Diego police. The crash occurred around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Balboa Drive and El Prado.
Officers responded to reports of a speeding car crashing into several other vehicles, including two parked cars. The impact sent at least one vehicle into a grassy area where parkgoers were relaxing. Fortunately, no pedestrians were hit.
All injuries were sustained by individuals in the vehicles involved. The child was reportedly taken to Rady Children’s Hospital as a precaution, while one driver was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other two adults suffered minor injuries, but it is unclear if they required hospitalization. The SDPD Traffic Unit is investigating the Balboa Park vehicle crash and does not believe DUI was a factor.
