Fremont Fire Engine Struck Twice While Responding to Crash
FREMONT, CA (April 13, 2024) — A Fremont fire engine was involved in two separate collisions this Saturday morning while assisting at a traffic accident scene on northbound I-680, south of the Andrade exit.
The fire engine, positioned to protect the site, was hit by two different vehicles at different times as the crew provided aid to a patient from an earlier crash.
One of the drivers who collided with the fire engine was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during these incidents. The fire engine involved, Engine 59, was towed from the scene and replaced by a backup unit.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the causes of the Fremont fire truck accident.
