Head-On Crash Near Watsonville Between Car and School Bus With 43 Kids

WATSONVILLE, CA (August 28, 2024) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday morning just outside of Watsonville. The collision involved a school bus and a car on Green Valley Road, with minor injuries reported.
According to CHP, the crash near Watsonville happened around 7:28 a.m. when a 28-year-old man from Freedom, driving a 2020 Kia Forte northbound, veered into the southbound lane for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a school bus driven by a 37-year-old Watsonville woman.
The school bus, carrying 43 students, had visible burn marks on its front. The Kia driver and a 13-year-old student on the bus reportedly sustained minor injuries.
