High-Speed Crash in Reseda Claims a Life, Injures Six [Reseda, CA]

RESEDA, CA (February 27, 2024) — A tragic multi-vehicle accident in Reseda resulted in one fatality and six injuries on Sunday. 

 

The incident, involving at least four moving and two parked vehicles, occurred on 18153 W. Vanowen St., drawing immediate response from the Los Angeles Fire Department.

 

The crash in Reseda, reported at 11:18 a.m., was notably severe, with firefighters employing hydraulic rescue tools to extricate two trapped individuals from the wreckage. Among the chaos, a 32-year-old man driving a yellow Chevrolet Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene, his identity withheld pending further investigation.

 

Authorities attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speed, noting that a white Dodge Charger and the Camaro were both traveling at high rates on Vanowen Street before the Charger collided with the Camaro. This initial impact led to a loss of control, culminating in multiple vehicles being struck.

 

In addition to the tragic loss of life, six individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment, while four others on the scene declined further medical attention. The crash also resulted in a sheared fire hydrant, which was subsequently contained by responding firefighters.

 

The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating the incident, highlighting the dangers of high-speed driving in urban areas.
