CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, CA (July 17, 2024) — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Saturday evening, July 13, on Highway 1 near Soberanes Canyon Trail.
An 80-year-old woman, crossing from the westbound shoulder into the northbound lane, was reportedly struck and killed by a Ford F-150 driven by a 25-year-old Seaside resident.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash near Soberanes Canyon and fully cooperated with the investigation. The pedestrian, whose identity is withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as an out-of-state resident.
The driver and her passenger were unharmed. Preliminary reports indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the accident, and no arrests have been made.
