Highway 99 Lanes Closed Following Fatal Madera County Truck Accident
MADERA COUNTY, CA (July 26, 2024) — A fatal collision involving two tractor-trailers on northbound Highway 99 in Madera County has resulted in lane closures, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said on Thursday.
The crash occurred shortly after noon between Avenue 9 and Avenue 12. One tractor-trailer, parked on the right shoulder and carrying several vehicles, was performing maintenance work when it was struck by another big rig hauling baby carrots. The moving truck veered out of the right lane and collided with the parked vehicle.
The driver of the parked car hauler, approximately 50 years old, sustained fatal injuries, CHP reported. The driver of the big rig carrying baby carrots was not injured. Emergency personnel and CHP officers responded to the scene. The Madera County truck accident is under investigation.
