Hit-and-Run in Garden Grove Leaves Family Hospitalized

ORANGE COUNTY, CA (July 8, 2024) — A family was left hospitalized, with three in critical condition, following a hit-and-run collision in Garden Grove on Sunday evening. The incident, which involved two adults and three children near Haster Street and Twintree Lane, occurred around 7:30 p.m., according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
The victims, two adults on bicycles towing three children in carriers, were struck by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended. First responders provided immediate medical attention before rushing the injured to nearby trauma centers. The severity of the injuries led to one adult and two children being listed in critical condition.
Sgt. Nick Jensen of the Garden Grove Police Department confirmed the arrest of the motorist. He also mentioned that the investigation into the hit-and-run in Garden Grove is ongoing to determine if substances like alcohol or drugs were involved.
Authorities closed Haster Street in both directions for several hours as they examined the scene, which included the wreckage of bicycles and emergency operations captured by news outlets.
