Innocent Driver Killed in Crash Involving San Bernardino Sheriff’s Deputy
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 1, 2024) — An innocent driver was killed Saturday when their car was hit by a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy responding to a call. The collision occurred just after 4 p.m. on Bear Valley Road west of Kiowa Road in Apple Valley. Officials stated the deputy was responding to a priority call, traveling west on Bear Valley Road with lights and sirens activated.
According to deputies, a Toyota Corolla heading east on Bear Valley attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot when it collided with the deputy’s vehicle. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are withholding the name of the Toyota driver until family members are notified.
