Irvine Grandfather Killed in Hit-and-Run Rollover Crash
IRVINE, CA (May 16, 2024) — Loved ones mourn the loss of Allen Yangkaou Lee, 67, who died following a hit-and-run rollover crash in Irvine. The incident occurred on May 9 around 4:30 p.m. as Allen was driving northbound on Culver Drive towards Trabuco Road.
The Irvine Police Department reports that as Allen passed an intersection, the suspect in a beige Honda Civic made an illegal right turn against a red light, forcing Allen to swerve. This maneuver caused his vehicle to lose control, rollover, and crash into a center median, tree, and light pole before landing on its roof.
Despite efforts from good Samaritans, Allen succumbed to his injuries on May 13. His family remembers him as a generous and caring grandfather.
Police are actively searching for the suspect in the Irvine hit-and-run rollover crash. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 2008-2011 beige Honda Civic with unique racing-style decals and red material on the door handles.
