LA County Deputy Killed in Off-Duty Traffic Collision
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 13, 2024) — Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna announced the death of Deputy Daniel Okamoto following an off-duty traffic collision early Friday morning. Deputy Okamoto, who joined the LA County Sheriff’s Department in 2017, was known for his service in the South Bay area, including Lomita and Rancho Palos Verdes.
The tragic accident occurred on April 12, 2024, deeply impacting the LASD community and all who knew him. “Our LASD family is mourning his loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and partners during this difficult time,” Sheriff Luna stated, commemorating Deputy Okamoto’s dedication and service.
