LAPD SUV Rammed Intentionally; Suspect in Custody [Los Angeles, CA]

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 30, 2024) — A motorist was arrested after deliberately ramming a Los Angeles Police Department SUV, causing injury to an officer. 

The confrontation occurred around 11:15 a.m. during a routine traffic stop at East 45th and Wall streets, in the South Park area of South Los Angeles.

Authorities report that the motorist, for reasons yet to be disclosed, reversed their vehicle into the police SUV, targeting one of the officers before fleeing the scene. The aftermath was captured by aerial footage, showing significant damage to both vehicles. A bystander was also seen being detained by police near the incident.

A swift response by the LAPD led to the formation of a search perimeter, culminating in the arrest of the driver a few hours later, without further incident. The injured officer was promptly transported to a nearby hospital; however, their current medical condition remains unspecified.

The police have not released any more details about the motive behind this alarming act or the identity of the arrested individual. The LAPD SUV crash highlights the unpredictable dangers law enforcement officers face daily while performing their duties.
