LASD Mourns the Loss of Deputy Alfredo “Freddy“ Flores Following Training Accident
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 22, 2024) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is grieving the loss of Deputy Alfredo “Freddy” Flores, who died Saturday night after enduring months of critical injuries from a training accident.
The LASD training accident occurred at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic during a routine training drill involving a mobile shooting range. The cause of the fire was identified as equipment malfunction.
Sheriff Robert Luna expressed profound sorrow over the loss of Flores, who had been with the department for 22 years and was regarded as a well-respected member of the LASD family. Flores’ roles included assignments at the North County Correctional Facility, the Altadena sheriff’s station, and the Court Services West Bureau.
