Lucerne Crash Results in Injuries and Temporary Detour
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (August 19, 2024) — A traffic collision in Lucerne on Sunday afternoon led to multiple injuries and necessitated a temporary rerouting of traffic. The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 20 at the intersection with 12th Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the Lucerne crash involved a Cadillac and a Jaguar, with the collision occurring as the Cadillac was maneuvering a turn. In response to the severity of the situation, two air ambulances were deployed to transport the injured out of the county—one to Sutter Lakeside and the other to Ceago Vinegarden.
CHP Officer Efrain Cortez indicated that one of the victims, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained significant injuries from impacting the windshield. Other individuals at the scene experienced less severe cuts. During the response and vehicle recovery, traffic was redirected via 13th Avenue and Country Club Drive.
