Man Dies After Crashing Into Tree in Rio Linda, Suspected DUI

SACRAMENTO, CA (August 11, 2024) — A man in his 20s died Saturday night after crashing his vehicle into a tree in Sacramento County, with authorities suspecting he was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the Rio Linda crash occurred around 6:54 p.m. near Rio Linda Boulevard and Crystal Road. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was traveling south on Rio Linda Boulevard at about 45-50 mph when he made an unsafe turn, veered off the road, and collided with a tree.
Sacramento Metro Fire extricated the man from the vehicle, and he was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.
