Man Fatally Hit by a Union Pacific Train in East Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA (August 17, 2024) — A man was killed Monday afternoon after being hit by a Union Pacific train in East Sacramento. The incident reportedly happened just after 3 p.m. near the 3500 block of Elvas Avenue.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, the man was struck near the intersection of Elvas Avenue and 36th Way, away from a designated crossing. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The train crew was unharmed.
The collision remains under investigation, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
