Man Killed, Woman Injured in Madera Pedestrian Accident

MADERA COUNTY, CA (July 21, 2024) — A man was killed and a woman injured after being struck by a car early Wednesday morning in Madera County.
The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Avenue 12 near Road 25, according to the California Highway Patrol. A 44-year-old man driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound when he hit the pedestrians. The driver stopped immediately and called 911.
The male pedestrian died at the scene, while the woman, a 24-year-old from Clovis, was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
Investigators noted that the area was dark at the time of the crash and the pedestrians were wearing dark clothing. Driving under the influence is not suspected, and the driver is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities are reportedly unsure why the man and woman were in the road.
