Man Saves Kitten on 91 Freeway, Triggers Multi-Car Collision

CALIFORNIA (September 5, 2024) — A well-intentioned rescue effort turned chaotic on the 91 Freeway near Madison Street when a man stopped his car in the fast lane to save a kitten, causing a three-car collision that left one person injured. The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The man noticed a kitten crossing the freeway and made an abrupt stop to prevent it from being hit by oncoming traffic. While the first following driver managed to halt in time, a subsequent vehicle failed to stop, crashing into the rear of the stopped cars.
The man successfully saved the kitten, which remained unharmed; however, the collision resulted in minor injuries to one individual, who was later transported to a hospital for treatment, as per the Riverside Fire Department.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the multi-car collision on 91 Freeway. The incident raises questions about the potential negligence involved in stopping abruptly on a freeway, a dangerous act that places many at risk.
