Mission Beach Motorcycle Accident Injures Rider and Passenger

MISSION BEACH, CA (July 28, 2024) — A motorcyclist and his passenger were injured Thursday night in Mission Beach after the rider lost control while performing a wheelie, hurting the passenger as a result.
The accident happened at around 11:08 p.m. in a parking lot at 700 Ventura Place. A 21-year-old man was riding a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle with a 20-year-old woman as a passenger, the San Diego Police Department reported.
While rapidly accelerating and performing a wheelie, the rider attempted to exit the parking lot. When the front wheel came down, he lost control of the bike.
The rider sustained a leg abrasion, while the woman, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. She suffered a skull fracture, a fractured elbow, and severe head injuries. Her condition is considered critical. The Mission Beach motorcycle accident is still under investigation.
