Moreno Valley Speeding Incident Claims Life of Young Driver in Hemet Collision

MORENO VALLEY, CA (June 8, 2024) — A 23-year-old man from Moreno Valley, identified as Samuel Ramirez, tragically lost his life in a high-speed car accident in Hemet on Thursday night. According to a preliminary report from the Hemet Police Department, the crash occurred around 10 p.m. on Stetson Avenue, just west of Kirby Street.
Ramirez was reportedly driving a silver Honda Accord westbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control, causing the vehicle to skid sideways into oncoming traffic. A blue Mazda CX3 then collided with the passenger side of his car.
Police noted that Ramirez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and while drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors, excessive speed is believed to have contributed to the crash.
The driver of the Mazda sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. This driver, who was the sole occupant of the Mazda, has cooperated with the ongoing investigation. The accident resulted in the closure of Stetson Avenue in both directions for about five hours as authorities conducted their investigation. Anyone with additional information or who witnessed the Moreno Valley car crash is urged to contact Traffic Corporal Nicot at 951-765-2400, citing file number 2024-03248.
