Motorcyclist Dies in Collision on Highway 33 Near Ojai
OXNARD, CA (March 19, 2024) — A tragic accident claimed the life of a 66-year-old motorcyclist from Oxnard on Sunday afternoon on Highway 33, north of Ojai. The collision involved the motorcyclist’s 2020 Yamaha and a 2017 Dodge Caravan, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The Ojai motorcycle accident occurred when the minivan, for reasons yet to be determined, veered into the southbound lane, colliding with the motorcycle. The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the family has been notified.
Following the collision, the minivan was reported to have gone off the road and down a steep hill, as stated by Ventura County Fire Department’s Capt. Brian McGrath. The crash was reported at 12:18 p.m. near the Potrero John Trail.
The driver of the minivan suffered cuts to her right leg, and both the driver and two passengers incurred minor injuries. In response to the accident, emergency services dispatched a helicopter, and bystanders on a climbing trip assisted in the rescue efforts. The CHP is conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of this fatal crash.
