Newborn Delivered After East San Jose Car Crash Dies from Injuries [San Jose, CA]
SAN JOSE, CA (May 24, 2024) — A newborn baby, delivered by emergency C-section after the mother was involved in a car crash in East San Jose, has died from injuries sustained in the accident, police reported.
The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on May 14 at the intersection of South White Road and Farringdon Drive. Investigators said the mother, driving northbound on South White Road, collided with an oncoming Jeep SUV while attempting a left turn onto Farringdon Drive.
The mother was taken to a local hospital where doctors performed an emergency C-section.
The newborn, initially in critical condition, passed away on May 19. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the infant’s identity. This marks San Jose’s 18th traffic death in 2024.
The mother sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the Jeep’s driver, an adult male, was unharmed.
