LOS ANGELES, CA – Green Bay Packers cornerback Robert Rochell is suing for damages following a 2023 car accident he claims severely impacted his career.
According to the lawsuit filed in L.A. County, Rochell was driving his $100K Mercedes GT 63 AMG on the Hollywood Freeway when he was struck by a speeding vehicle in February 2023. The crash left him with multiple injuries, including a fractured elbow, knee and head trauma, and nerve damage.
Rochell asserts that the accident not only caused physical pain but also hindered his football career. He was forced to miss key off-season training and parts of training camp, which led to his release by the Rams after week 1. He struggled to find a permanent role, later bouncing between the practice squads of the Seahawks, Panthers, and Packers.
Per TMZ Sports, the lawsuit seeks compensation for lost wages and “loss of earning capacity,” though the exact amount has not been disclosed. Rochell’s legal team is aiming to recover the financial losses caused by the crash and the interruption to his promising career.
DUIs are a leading cause of accidents, with numerous high-profile cases involving athletes and celebrities as victims.
For example, former NFL player Henry Ruggs III was involved in a tragic DUI-related crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman. Similarly, in 2021, former NBA star and coach, Jerry Sloan, was reportedly injured in a DUI-related crash.
These cases highlight the serious consequences of impaired driving, not just for the victims but also for the drivers involved, whose careers and lives can be dramatically affected. With the growing awareness of these risks, victims of DUI accidents often pursue legal action to seek justice for their injuries and losses.
