VENTURA, CA – A 23-year-old man from Oxnard died early Sunday morning following a crash on Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened around 4:04 a.m. on southbound Highway 101, just north of Echo Valley Road.
The CHP reported that the man, driving a blue Mazda sedan, veered to the left and crashed into the center median wall for reasons still under investigation.
The deceased, later identified as Anthony Christian Sullivan by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
CAL FIRE also responded to the scene. The CHP is continuing its investigation into the single-vehicle crash in Oxnard.
Highway 101 is known for its high traffic volume and stretches across multiple counties, making it a high-risk area for accidents. Just last week, two drivers suffered serious injuries following a head-on crash in Cuesta Grade.
