ORANGE COUNTY, CA – A 49-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Santa Ana on the evening of February 9, 2025. According to a press release, the crash happened around 10:22 p.m. near the 2100 block of W. 17th Street.
Carmelo Salazar Garcia, a Santa Ana resident, was found with serious injuries and treated by emergency responders at the scene. He was later transported to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest that Garcia was walking southbound across 17th Street when he was hit by a westbound vehicle. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. There were no signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
