
SAN DIEGO, CA – A U.S. Navy E/A-18G Growler jet crashed off the coast of San Diego on Wednesday morning, but both crewmembers were successfully rescued, authorities reported.
The two individuals were initially picked up by a fishing vessel, Premiere, before being transferred to a Customs and Border Protection vessel. They were then transported to a hospital and are in stable condition, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The Coast Guard is currently securing the wreckage of the Growler in San Diego Harbor.
Witnesses captured video of the jet appearing to nosedive into the water at high speed. Further details on the US Navy jet crash are not yet available.
