A fatal incident in Playa Del Rey left a female pedestrian dead after a two-car collision sent one motorist off the road and onto the beach. The crash happened just after 7 p.m. Sunday at 8255 South Vista Del Mar.
Reports indicate that a roughly 70-year-old driver lost control and his car veered off the roadway, plunging onto the beach where heavy damage was visible. Emergency responders confirmed the victim was beyond medical help and pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver, who sustained minor injuries, was seen speaking with police at the scene. A white canopy covered the victim’s body, and Vista Del Mar was closed to traffic while investigators worked.
No details have been provided regarding the other motorist involved, and there is no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.
