ORANGE COUNTY, CA – A 56-year-old Long Beach woman was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Anaheim on Sunday night, authorities said.
The collision occurred around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and West Broadway, involving a red crossover SUV and a white Volkswagen sedan, according to the Anaheim Police Department. Firefighters had to cut the SUV driver out of the wreckage before she was rushed to a hospital, where she died an hour later.
The Volkswagen driver, 29-year-old Samantha Farris of Buena Park, was also hospitalized and later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Investigators believe she made a left turn directly in front of the SUV, causing the fatal crash. Witnesses reported she had been drinking at a nearby business beforehand.
Farris was booked into jail but later released on bail Monday morning. The investigation on this Anaheim DUI crash is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1900.
