SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA – Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who allegedly caused a deadly motorcycle crash in the City of Industry over the weekend.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Temple Avenue and Ruthcrest Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators say 25-year-old Manuel Leyva Mier of La Palma was riding a black 2016 Yamaha R6 westbound on Temple Avenue when a silver Kia Soul suddenly changed lanes in front of him.
The abrupt lane change forced Mier to lose control, sending him veering to the right and crashing into a pole. He was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Instead of stopping, the Kia driver fled the area, and CHP investigators are still working to identify them. Authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
Anyone with information on this City of Industry hit-and-run is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol.
