VICTOR VALLEY, CA – A deadly rollover accident on the northbound 15 Freeway in Apple Valley early Saturday morning left one person dead and three others injured, authorities said.
The collision happened around 6:12 a.m. near Dale Evans Parkway when a white 2019 Audi Q5 veered off the freeway and rolled over multiple times, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). First responders were alerted through an iPhone crash detection alert, with dispatchers reportedly hearing a female moaning in the background of the call.
Emergency crews arrived to find the wrecked vehicle in a desert field, far from the freeway. CHP logs indicate the Audi rolled at least seven times before coming to a stop.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while firefighters had to extricate the driver and a passenger, both of whom were critically injured. A fourth occupant sustained less severe injuries.
Two helicopters transported the critically injured victims to a trauma center, while the other survivor was taken by ground ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Apple Valley. CHP is investigating the cause of the Apple Valley rollover crash.
