
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver who fled after fatally striking 66-year-old Emily Hernandez in Encinitas last month.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. on January 19, when Hernandez was walking in the 900 block of North Coast Highway 101 near Leucadia State Beach. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, a gray Audi Q3, model year 2019 to 2023, hit her and then fled the scene.
Paramedics transported Hernandez to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Investigators are now searching for the driver and are urging anyone with information on this Encinitas hit-and-run incident to come forward.
