LOS ANGELES, CA – One person was killed in a suspected DUI crash in South Gate involving multiple vehicles early Sunday morning.
The collision happened around 2:30 a.m. at Imperial Highway and Garfield Place. Authorities say a driver ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, causing both cars to hit three others stopped at the intersection.
The driver of the first car that was struck was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released. The suspected DUI driver was hospitalized with injuries and is expected to be taken into custody. At least one other person was injured in the crash.
The South Gate Police Department is investigating the incident.
