A wrong-way crash in Irvine early Monday morning claimed the life of 29-year-old Joshua Kevin Soto from La Habra, authorities confirmed.
The collision occurred around 1:35 a.m. near Jamboree Road, just south of Warner Avenue. According to the Irvine Police Department, Soto was driving a Hyundai Elantra in the wrong direction on the northbound lanes of Jamboree Road when he crashed head-on into another vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Soto to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was unharmed, police said.
Authorities have not yet determined what led to the fatal crash and whether alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
