San Luis Obispo police arrested a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run after a two-car crash Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the intersection of Ella and Johnson around 12:54 p.m. on March 5, where they learned that one of the drivers had fled the scene on foot. Witnesses described the suspect as wearing a Domino’s Pizza uniform, and one bystander even provided police with a photo of the fleeing driver.
Another witness reported seeing the suspect discard a small bottle of liquor into nearby bushes before running away. Officers later recovered the bottle, which was mostly empty and contained vodka.
A short time later, officers located the suspect standing behind Domino’s Pizza on Foothill Boulevard and quickly detained him. He had minor injuries, likely from airbag deployment during the crash.
The driver was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and misdemeanor hit-and-run. Police confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle was uninjured. The investigation into the hit-and-run in San Luis Obispo is ongoing.
