A 39-year-old Watsonville driver was arrested Tuesday morning after colliding with six vehicles, including a school bus, on Green Valley Road south of Minto Road.
The crash occurred around 7:53 a.m. when a gray Honda struck multiple vehicles in the area, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The school bus, which had six occupants inside, was among those impacted, but no injuries were reported among the passengers. However, two individuals from other vehicles sustained minor injuries.
After the crash, the suspect attempted to flee but was stopped by other motorists until law enforcement arrived. CHP confirmed the driver was taken into custody and now faces a felony hit-and-run charge. Authorities transported the individual to a mental health facility for further evaluation.
While the cause of the multi-vehicle crash in Watsonville remains under investigation, CHP stated that alcohol or drugs do not appear to have played a role in the incident.
