A general manager of a popular Bay Area Greek restaurant chain has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in a crash that killed 26-year-old Nathaniel Rosas on Interstate 280 early Monday.
Robert Anies, 33, was booked into county jail on charges of DUI causing injury, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 12:09 a.m. on southbound I-280 near the Geneva Avenue on-ramp.
Authorities said Rosas had exited a Nissan Sentra parked on the shoulder and was walking in traffic lanes when he was struck by Anies’ Chevrolet Cruze. Rosas, a father to an eight-month-old son, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anies, a senior general manager at Souvla, has no prior criminal record. His employer has not commented on the incident. Rosas’ family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his child.
