A multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 8 near College Avenue in the College Area early Friday morning resulted in one fatality.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 1 a.m. when one vehicle, after colliding with a big rig truck, burst into flames. Shortly afterward, another driver struck the burning car.
Emergency crews arrived to find the vehicle engulfed in flames, and the driver inside was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze as investigators continue to examine the chain of events leading to the crash on I-8. Authorities have yet to release further details on the cause of the collision.
