A young boy was killed late Tuesday night in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw area after a motorist drove into a building and then fled the scene, police report.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Rodeo Place when a white Infiniti FX35 struck the corner of the building head-on. Investigators believe the vehicle was speeding before losing control and veering off the road.
The motorist failed to stop and provide assistance, abandoning the scene and later driving off in a white sedan.
The victim, a 4-year-old boy, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Two other passengers sustained serious injuries, including the young boy’s mother, who was also taken to hospital.
Police are searching for the suspect, described as a Black woman in her 30s, in connection with the Baldwin Hills hit-and-run. The investigation continues as authorities review surveillance footage and gather additional evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
