A fatal collision happened on Manning Avenue in Fresno Tuesday afternoon when a Honda Accord, traveling westbound, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a semi-truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the impact set the Honda ablaze, rendering its driver unidentifiable and ultimately fatal, while the semi-truck — an empty cattle hauler moving at 45 mph — suffered a less severe impact.
A subsequent grass fire, covering roughly two acres, was swiftly contained by Cal Fire crews. The semi-truck’s driver, a 24‐year‐old woman, sustained only minor injuries and received on-scene treatment.
Investigators are examining what caused the collision on Manning Avenue, exploring possibilities from driver distraction to potential vehicle malfunction.
