A driver sustained major injuries in a solo-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 580 near San Ramon Valley Road, close to Dublin, Tuesday at approximately 12:53 p.m.
A witness reported that the driver was speeding recklessly before veering off into a right-hand dirt embankment and overturning. No other individuals were injured in the incident.
During the investigation, California Highway Patrol officers discovered an unregistered firearm inside the driver’s vehicle. Officials have yet to provide further details about the driver or the circumstances that led to the recovery of the weapon.
The CHP is continuing its investigation into the Bay Area crash and the presence of the unregistered firearm.
