A wrong-way driver crashed into a vehicle on westbound Interstate 60 Saturday night, killing two women and severely injuring a 1-year-old child.
The I-60 wrong way crash reportedly happened around 11 p.m. just west of Reservoir Street. 24-year-old Rick Rodriguez of Pomona was accused of driving the wrong way and colliding head-on with a Honda Civic carrying three occupants.
The driver and a passenger in the Civic, aged 29 and 39 respectively, were pronounced dead at the scene while the infant sustained major injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
Following the initial impact, Rodriguez’s vehicle spun out and struck another car, injuring its driver. Rodriguez, who sustained severe injuries, was taken to a hospital and later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
