A stolen car fleeing a police pursuit collided with a blue SUV early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of female passenger Villamalia Polina Tu’ipulotu.
According to local authorities, the incident happened just after 2 a.m. off Highway 4 in Pittsburg when the suspect’s vehicle, reportedly exceeding 100 mph, exited at Railroad Avenue and struck the SUV.
The impact killed Tu’ipulotu, while the SUV’s driver, her fiancé Beaux Tagaloa, and the driver of the stolen car were taken to hospital with injuries. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office is investigating the fatal collision.
A GoFundMe campaign has been created for the victims, in which the Tu’ipulotu family described Polina as a kind, spirited individual who was cherished by everyone who knew her. They noted that she was looking forward to marrying later this summer.
